On February 26-27, 2009 two-day workshop "Book safety: essential principles of book conservation and digitization technology " was held in the Central Scientific Library of the National Academy of Science of Kyrgyzstan. On February 26-27, 2009 two-day workshop "Book safety: essential principles of book conservation and digitization technology" was held in the Central Scientific Library of the National Academy of Science of Kyrgyzstan. The workshop carried out in the framework of the project "Book heritage of Kyrgyzstan - providing safety and public access" which was supported by The U.S. Ambassador's Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP). Obtained knowlrdge and practical skills will be applied to creation of digital collection of rare books and to preservation of book heritage of Kyrgyzstan. The main trainers of the workshop were Absamatova K.N. and Tokonova T.T., who had studied bases of book preservation and phase conservation in the Center of preservation of libraries collections of the National library of Kazakhstan (Almaty).
